Cigerendeng tropical rainforest in Ciamis Regency is home to various Dipterocarpaceae vegetation, including Shorea spp, Hopea spp, and Dipterocarpus sp. Hopea mengerawan as the dominant species. This family plays a vital role in maintaining ecosystem balance and holds significant economic value but is threatened by damage caused by pests and diseases targeting tree shoots, roots, and trunks. This study employed the Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) method and census sampling to identify pest and disease species, damage types, and attack frequencies. The findings revealed dominant pests such as Termites (Coptotermes spp), which damage tree trunks, Carpenter Bees (Xylocopa latipes), which compromise wood structures, and caterpillars like the Anggora Moth (Dasychira inlusa) and the Fire Caterpillar (Setora nitens), which feed on leaves. Common diseases included Wood Rot Fungus (Fomitiporia sp), which degrades lignin, and Stem Canker, causing cambium necrosis. Eight primary damage types were identified, with Termite Nests as the most prevalent, followed by Open Wounds, Dead Tips, Resinosis/Gummosis, Stem Canker, Broken Branches/Trunks, Broom Growth on Roots/Trunks, and Liana infestations. Among the 1.189 observed trees, damage caused by biotic disturbances predominantly affected the upper parts, indicating a high vulnerability level. This study highlights the importance of tree health monitoring and management to conserve Dipterocarpaceae species and support the sustainability of tropical forest ecosystems and their economic value.
